Shipping, Freight And Warranty
Everything that happens between your order and the engine reaching your transom: how we crate, what freight costs by zone, how long transit takes, and exactly what the factory warranty covers once the engine is registered in your name.
How engines are crated
Every engine leaves the warehouse crated. The powerhead is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet through the transom clamps, the cowling is braced so it cannot move against the frame, and the whole assembly is skinned and strapped. Portable engines under 20hp ship in a manufacturer carton on a half pallet.
Oil and fuel are drained where the carrier requires it, and a dated photograph of the finished crate is attached to your order record before dispatch. If a crate arrives damaged, that photograph is what settles the claim.
Mounted
Bolted upright through the transom clamps to a purpose built pallet.
Braced
Cowling and gearcase braced so nothing can shift in transit.
Skinned
Wrapped, strapped and labelled with the serial number and order.
Photographed
Dated photographs taken on the dock and filed against your order.
Freight cost
Freight is a flat rate: the same price to anywhere in the lower 48, whatever the engine. Liftgate service adds $125 and delivery to an authorized dealer adds $60.
| Service | Cost | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |
| Express freight | $250 | 1 to 3 days |
Curbside is the default
The crate is left at the end of your drive. Arrange help or a tractor, or add liftgate service.
One flat rate
Freight is the same price whatever the engine and wherever it goes in the lower 48, so what you see at checkout is what you pay.
Outside the lower 48
Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted individually. Send your zip code and we will price it.

Warranty position
We are an authorized dealer for every brand we list. That is what makes the factory warranty valid on an online purchase, and it is the single most important thing to check before buying an outboard from any website.
Warranty is registered in your name on the day of dispatch, not on the day you first run the engine, so the cover starts from a date you can see on your paperwork. The registration certificate and the dealer network list ship inside the crate.
Servicing is not tied to us. Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized dealer for that brand in the United States, which matters if you are three states away from Tampa.
Damage, claims and returns
Inspect the crate before you sign for it. If the skin is torn, the frame is broken or the cowling is marked, note it on the delivery paperwork and photograph it before the driver leaves. That note is what allows us to run a carrier claim on your behalf, and we handle the claim from there.
Unregistered engines can be returned within thirty days in original crated condition. Return freight is at your cost and a restocking charge applies to special order configurations. Once an engine has been run, warranty replaces the return route.
Parts and accessories can be returned within thirty days unopened. Rigging kits cut to length and propellers that have been fitted cannot be returned.
Freight questions
How much is freight on my engine
Find your horsepower band and destination zone in the table above for the curbside rate. The exact figure for your address is calculated at checkout, or ask for a written quote and we will confirm crating, transit time and total cost in one email.
Can the engine be delivered to my dealer
Yes, and it is what we recommend if you are not fitting the engine yourself. Add authorized dealer delivery at checkout and give us the dealer name and address. The warranty is still registered in your name.
Do you ship to Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico
We do, but not at the rates in the table. Send your zip code with the engine you want and we will price the consignment individually.
What happens if the crate arrives damaged
Note the damage on the delivery paperwork, photograph it, and contact us the same day. We hold dated photographs of the crate leaving our dock, which is normally enough to settle a carrier claim quickly.
Is the engine covered in transit
Yes. Every consignment is insured for full order value while it is with the carrier, at no extra cost to you.
