Used Yamaha F115XB 115HP Outboard for Sale
Buy a used Yamaha F115 outboard for sale online, a 2014 F115XB on a 25 inch extra long shaft with electric start, remote steering and power trim and tilt. The F115 is one of the most widely fitted outboards in the country and one of the most durable engines Yamaha has built, which makes a used one a low risk purchase. This is the extra long shaft version, which is less common than the 20 inch build and fits bay boats and offshore hulls with a taller transom. At this price it is the cheapest 115 four stroke on the site. Order it from the page, or send us your hull model and transom measurement and we will confirm the fit before you pay.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is an extra long shaft, 25in.
Why the Yamaha F115 is a safe used buy
The F115 has been fitted to more boats than almost any other four stroke in its class, and that volume is what makes it a sensible used purchase.
Every mechanic has worked on one. Every parts supplier stocks the service items. Every failure mode is documented on forums going back years. There is nothing left to discover about this engine.
That predictability is worth more on a used buy than a newer design with a thinner track record, because you are buying something you cannot fully inspect.
Ask for compression on all four cylinders and the ECU hours. On an F115 those two numbers carry almost the whole story.

Why a 25 inch Yamaha F115 costs less
Most F115s are built on a 20 inch shaft, because most boats rated for 115 horsepower have a standard transom. The 25 inch version goes on bay boats and offshore hulls with a taller transom.
Fewer boats take it, so fewer buyers compete for it, which is why an extra long shaft engine typically lists below the equivalent 20 inch motor. If your transom measures 25 inches, that discount is yours.
Measure from the top of the transom straight down to the hull bottom at the centerline before ordering. If you measure 20 inches, look at the Yamaha VF115LB instead.
What size boat takes a Yamaha F115
Bay boats and center consoles from about 17 to 20 feet, larger aluminum hulls and big pontoons. It is the size below the 150 band and a large slice of the recreational fleet sits in it.
Check the maximum rating on your capacity plate before ordering. The rest of the range is on Yamaha outboard motors.
Common Yamaha F115 faults and what they cost
The benefit of an engine this widely fitted is that the failure modes are documented rather than discovered, so you can shop knowing what to look for.
Cooling is the first thing to check at any age: a weak telltale means the impeller, and running on turns a cheap job into an expensive one.
Corrosion at the midsection and around the thermostat housings is the saltwater engine issue, and it shows in photographs if you know to look.
Fuel system trouble after storage is the third, and it is a function of how the engine was put away rather than how it ran.
Compression on all four cylinders catches almost everything else. Ask us for the figures on this one and for photographs of any area you want to see.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Yamaha F115 a reliable outboard?
It is one of the most widely fitted and best documented four strokes in its class. Every mechanic has worked on one and every failure mode is known, which is exactly what you want when buying used.
What does XB mean on a Yamaha F115XB?
X is the extra long 25 inch shaft, B is the model generation. It is a configuration code rather than a different engine.
Why is a 25 inch Yamaha F115 cheaper than a 20 inch?
Fewer boats take a 25 inch shaft, so fewer buyers compete for it. The engine is identical. If your transom measures 25 inches, that discount works in your favor.
What size boat needs a Yamaha F115?
A bay boat or center console from 17 to 20 feet, a large aluminum hull or a big pontoon. Check the maximum rating on your capacity plate.
How many hours are on this Yamaha F115?
The listing did not state a figure. We read it from the ECU before the engine ships and will send it with compression figures on request.

Shipping and crating
The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
| Destination zone | Freight on this engine | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |
| Express freight | $250 | 1 to 3 days |
