Used Yamaha V MAX SHO 115HP Outboard for Sale

Buy a used Yamaha V MAX SHO 115HP outboard for sale online, a 2025 four stroke on a 20 inch long shaft with 20 recorded hours, electric start, remote steering and power trim and tilt. Twenty hours on a current model year engine means this has effectively been run in and nothing more: a handful of trips, then somebody changed their plans. That is the narrowest and most valuable slice of the used market, because you are buying a new engine at a used price with the warranty question still worth asking. V MAX SHO is Yamaha performance line, built for light fast hulls. Order it from the page, or send us your hull details and transom measurement first.

Supplied with

  • Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
  • Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
  • Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
  • Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
  • First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil

Not sure on shaft length

Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is a long shaft, 20in.

A 2025 Yamaha V MAX SHO with twenty hours

This is as close to new as a used engine gets. Twenty hours is the break in period and a few trips beyond it.

Engines reach the market in this condition for ordinary reasons: a boat sold quickly, a repower that changed direction, a buyer whose circumstances moved. None of them says anything bad about the motor.

What it gets you is the first depreciation step on an engine that has done nothing. That step is the largest single saving available anywhere in outboards.

Ask us what remains of the factory cover on this specific unit. On an engine this young that answer is worth having in writing before you order.

V MAX SHO against a standard 115

SHO engines are tuned for hole shot and top end on light hulls. That is what bass, bay and flats boats want and it is the whole reason the line exists.

On a heavier boat that carries weight, a standard four stroke at the same rating does the job better. The extra acceleration is wasted and the tuning does not help you.

Be honest about your hull before choosing. If it is heavy, the 2014 Yamaha F115XB is the sensible engine and it costs considerably less.

What to check on a nearly new Yamaha V MAX SHO

Fewer things, but not none.

Ask whether the first scheduled service was done. At twenty hours it falls due right about now, and whether it was carried out tells you how the owner treated it.

Ask whether it ran in salt and whether it was flushed. Twenty hours in salt without flushing does more harm than two hundred in fresh water.

Compression is recorded before listing and we will send you the figures. More at this size on Yamaha outboard motors.

What this Yamaha V MAX SHO should come with

At twenty hours the paperwork is nearly as important as the engine, so it is worth asking for all of it.

The original registration details, which determine whether any factory cover remains and whether it transfers.

The service record, since the first scheduled service falls due around this point and whether it was done tells you how the owner treated it.

The ECU hour reading rather than a stated figure, which we take before shipping.

And what rigging comes with it. An engine sold complete with controls, harness and propeller is a substantially different package from a bare motor, and at this age it is common for all of it to be included.

Ask and we will confirm each one in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Is a Yamaha V MAX SHO with 20 hours basically new?

Effectively yes. That is the break in period and a few trips beyond it. You are buying the first depreciation step on an engine that has done almost nothing.

Does this Yamaha V MAX SHO still have warranty?

It may retain the balance of cover, depending on the unit and how it was registered. Ask us to confirm what remains on this specific engine before you order.

What is V MAX SHO?

Yamaha performance four stroke line, tuned for hole shot and top end on light hulls. It is what bass, bay and flats boats are built around.

Should I buy SHO for a heavy boat?

No. On a boat that carries weight, a standard four stroke at the same rating is the better engine and costs less. SHO only earns its keep on light fast hulls.

What should I check on a nearly new used Yamaha?

Whether the first scheduled service was done, since at twenty hours it falls due about now, and whether it ran in salt and was flushed. Compression figures are recorded before listing.

Shipping and crating

The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.

Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.

Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.

Standard freight $100 About a week

Warranty

This used Yamaha is compression tested, run on the dyno and listed with its hour count and service history. It carries a ninety day parts and labor warranty from us unless the balance of factory cover runs longer.

Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Yamaha dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.

The serial number on this listing, 6EK-8115084, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.

3 years, extendable to 5 years

Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
