New 2023 Yamaha VF115LB 115HP Outboard, Long Shaft for Sale
Buy a new Yamaha VF115LB 115HP outboard online, a 2023 V MAX SHO four stroke on a 20 inch long shaft with electric start, remote steering and power trim and tilt. V MAX SHO is Yamaha performance four stroke line, built to give light hulls the acceleration that bass and flats boat owners used to get from two strokes. At 115 horsepower it is the engine most performance orientated bay and bass boats in the 17 to 20 foot range are rigged with. This is a new engine carrying factory warranty registered in your name. Order it from the page, or send us the hull model and transom measurement and we will confirm the fit before you pay.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is a long shaft, 20in.
Buying a new VF115: what to settle before it ships
A performance engine on a light hull is more sensitive to rigging than a general purpose one, so three things are worth settling first.
Propeller. Pitch decides whether you get the hole shot you paid for. Too much and the engine cannot reach rated revs; too little and it revs out before the boat is up to speed. Send us the boat, the weight you carry and what you use it for.
Mounting height. On a light fast hull, how high the engine sits on the transom changes the top end and the hole shot considerably. If you are fitting a jack plate, tell us.
Controls and gauges. They need to match the engine rather than be adapted. Tell us what is at your helm now and we will list what the install needs.

This is one of two VF115LB units listed. Ask us to confirm serial numbers and what comes with each before ordering. The other is the 2023 Yamaha VF115LB.
Why buy a performance four stroke
Bass and flats boats ran two strokes for decades because two strokes accelerate. When emissions rules removed them, the performance market needed a four stroke that behaved the same way.
V MAX SHO is that engine. It gives a light hull the hole shot those owners expect, with four stroke fuel consumption, noise and emissions.
For a general purpose boat that carries weight, the standard F series is still the better choice, and a heavier hull will not benefit from what this engine does well.
What boats a Yamaha VF115 suits
Bay boats, bass boats, flats skiffs and larger aluminum hulls from about 17 to 20 feet. Check the maximum rating on your capacity plate before you order.
The used alternative at the same output is the 2025 Yamaha V MAX SHO with 20 recorded hours.
Two Yamaha VF115LB listings: how we handle it
There are two VF115LB units listed here at nearly the same price, and rather than leave that as an oddity we would rather explain how to proceed.
They are recorded as separate units. Before you order, ask us to confirm the serial number of the specific engine you are buying, and what is on the pallet with it.
If it turns out the two listings describe the same physical engine, which does happen when supplier exports are merged, we will tell you and take one down rather than sell you a unit that does not exist.
Either way you get the serial number in writing before you pay, and it appears on your invoice. That is the only thing that actually settles which engine is yours.
Frequently asked questions
What is Yamaha V MAX SHO?
Yamaha performance four stroke line, built to give light hulls the acceleration bass and flats boat owners used to get from two strokes, with four stroke economy and emissions.
What should I settle before fitting a Yamaha VF115?
Propeller pitch, mounting height on the transom, and controls and gauges that match the engine. On a light fast hull all three change how the boat performs.
What propeller does a Yamaha VF115 need?
By pitch, against the boat and the load you carry. Too much and the engine cannot reach rated revs; too little and it revs out before the boat is up to speed. Send us the details and we will pitch it.
Is a Yamaha SHO worth it on a heavy boat?
No. On a boat that carries weight, the standard F series is the better engine. SHO is built for light hulls where acceleration is what matters.
Does a new Yamaha VF115 have warranty?
Yes, Yamaha factory cover registered in your name on the day of dispatch. Ask us to confirm the current term before you order.

Shipping and crating
The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
| Destination zone | Freight on this engine | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |

Warranty
New Yamaha outboards carry the full 3 years Yamaha limited warranty for private recreational use, 1 year for commercial use. We register the warranty in your name on the day of dispatch and the certificate ships inside the crate.
Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Yamaha dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.
The serial number on this listing, 6EK-3430911, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.
3 years, extendable to 5 years
Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
