New 2023 Yamaha VF115LB 115HP Outboard, Long Shaft for Sale
Buy a new Yamaha VF115LB V MAX SHO 115HP outboard online, a 2023 four stroke on a 20 inch long shaft with electric start, remote steering and power trim and tilt. The VF designation is what separates this from a standard F115: V MAX SHO engines are tuned for hole shot and top speed on light fast hulls, which is why bass boats, bay boats and flats skiffs are built around them. This is a new engine with factory warranty registered in your name. If your boat is light and you care how quickly it gets up, this is the 115 to buy rather than the standard one. Order it from this page, or send the hull details and transom measurement and we will confirm the fit first.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is a long shaft, 20in.
VF115 or F115: which Yamaha 115 do you want
Same horsepower, different engines, different boats. Getting this right matters more than the price difference.
The VF115 is a V MAX SHO. It is tuned for acceleration and top end on light hulls, and it is the engine bass, bay and flats boats are designed around. Hole shot is what it is for.
The standard F115 is the general purpose engine: better suited to pushing a loaded pontoon or a heavier hull at cruise, and it is what most aluminum boats and family boats run.
If your boat is light and fast, buy the VF. If it carries weight, buy the F. We stock the 2014 Yamaha F115XB if the standard engine is what your boat wants.

LB is a configuration code: L is the shaft length, B the generation. It is not a weight, which is a common misreading of Yamaha model names.
What boats run a Yamaha VF115 SHO
Bass boats, bay boats, flats skiffs and light aluminum hulls from about 17 to 20 feet. Anything where acceleration out of the hole is what the owner notices.
On a heavy pontoon or a loaded family boat, the standard F115 is the better engine and we will tell you so rather than sell you this one.
Check your capacity plate and measure the transom before ordering.
Two VF115LB listings in stock
We show two 2023 VF115LB engines at very similar prices, and we would rather flag that than have you wonder.
They are listed as separate units. Before you order, ask us to confirm the serial numbers and exactly what comes with each, so you know which physical engine you are buying and what is on the pallet.
The other listing is the 2023 Yamaha VF115LB, 20 inch.
Setting up a Yamaha VF115 properly
A SHO engine on a light hull rewards a careful setup and punishes a lazy one, so three things are worth settling before it is fitted.
Propeller pitch, against the boat loaded as you actually run it. The whole point of the engine is reaching its rev band quickly, and the wrong prop prevents exactly that.
Mounting height, because on a light fast hull raising the engine reduces drag and changes both top end and hole shot. If a jack plate is going on, tell us.
And the gauges, which need to read what a modern engine reports rather than approximate it.
Send us the hull, the load and what you use it for, and we will specify all three instead of shipping a default.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Yamaha VF115 and an F115?

Shipping and crating
The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
| Destination zone | Freight on this engine | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |
| Express freight | $250 | 1 to 3 days |
Warranty
New Yamaha outboards carry the full 3 years Yamaha limited warranty for private recreational use, 1 year for commercial use. We register the warranty in your name on the day of dispatch and the certificate ships inside the crate.
Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Yamaha dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.
The serial number on this listing, 6EK-3187495, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.
3 years, extendable to 5 years
Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
