Used 2021 Yamaha 300HP Outboard for Sale
Buy a used Yamaha 300HP four stroke outboard for sale online, a 2021 engine with 210 recorded hours on a 25 inch shaft. This is the configuration most people mean when they search for a Yamaha 300 outboard for sale: the offshore shaft length, a recent model year and hours light enough that the engine is barely into its working life. Three hundred horsepower is where offshore singles and twin rigs live, and a four year old Yamaha 300 with 210 hours is the sweet spot between paying new money and taking on somebody else in years of salt. Order it from this page, or send the transom height and hull model and we will confirm the fit first.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is an extra long shaft, 25in.
Buy a used Yamaha 300HP outboard, four years old
The steepest part of an outboard depreciation curve is behind this engine, and most of its life is in front of it. That is the argument for buying at about this age rather than new or ancient.
Two hundred and ten hours across four seasons is light recreational use. On a four stroke rated past 3,000 hours it leaves the great majority of the engine unused, and it suggests a boat that went out on weekends rather than one that ran charters.
What still matters is where those hours were run. Ask about flushing after saltwater trips and look closely at the midsection, transom bracket and trim rams in the photographs, because salt tells you more at this age than the meter does.

Yamaha 300 outboard price: what you are paying for
At 300 horsepower the price spread across the used market is wide, and four things account for it.
Model year matters more here than at smaller outputs, because rigging and digital control standards have moved. Hours matter, but less than buyers assume. Shaft length moves the number in both directions depending on how common it is. And salt history decides whether the engine has five years left or fifteen.
Compare this against the 2015 Yamaha 300HP on a 30 inch shaft if your transom is taller, or the 2024 Yamaha F300 if you want the newest one in stock.
What size boat takes a Yamaha 300HP outboard
Offshore center consoles from roughly 26 to 30 feet as a single, and very commonly as one of a pair on 32 to 38 foot hulls. Twenty five inches is the standard offshore transom, which is why this configuration sells fastest.
If you are replacing one engine of a pair, send us the details of the one staying on the transom. Rotation, rigging and control compatibility all have to match, and it is cheaper to check than to discover.
What to ask before buying any used 300
At this output the questions are the same wherever you shop, and the answers are worth having in writing rather than over the phone.
Compression on every cylinder, with the actual figures rather than a reassurance. Hours read from the ECU rather than from a dash gauge that can be swapped. Whether the engine ran in salt and whether it was flushed after every trip.
Then the two that people forget: what rigging comes with it, and whether the seller can produce evidence of servicing rather than a description of it.
We answer all five before you pay, and we will send photographs of the midsection, transom bracket, trim rams and serial plate if you ask. On a used 300 those pictures tell you more than the model year does.
Frequently asked questions
Is 210 hours high for a Yamaha 300?
No. On a four stroke rated past 3,000 hours it is light use, roughly what four seasons of weekend boating puts on an engine. Salt exposure and service history matter considerably more at this age.
How long does a Yamaha 300 outboard last?
Well past 3,000 hours when flushed after saltwater use and serviced on schedule. The failure that ends these engines is almost always neglect, and it shows first as corrosion at the midsection and trim rams.
What size boat needs a Yamaha 300HP outboard?
Typically a 26 to 30 foot offshore center console as a single, or one of a pair on larger hulls. Check the maximum rating on your capacity plate and stay at or below it.
Should I buy a used Yamaha 300 or a new one?
A four year old engine with light hours has taken the steepest depreciation already and has most of its life left. New buys you full warranty and current rigging standards. The four year old engine is usually the better value if the salt history is clean.
Will this 25 inch Yamaha 300HP fit my boat?
Only if your transom measures about 25 inches from the top down to the hull bottom at the centerline. Thirty inch transoms need the offshore shaft version instead. Send the measurement and we will confirm.

The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
