New Mercury Verado V8 300HP Outboard for Sale
Buy a new Mercury Verado V8 300HP outboard online, on a 30 inch offshore shaft and shipped nationwide. Verado is Mercury refined line, and the V8 at 300 horsepower is the engine built for boats that cruise a long way rather than sprint: quieter at the helm, smoother through the range, and geared to push a loaded hull. The 30 inch shaft narrows it to tall transom and bracketed offshore installations, which is exactly the fleet Verado was designed around. Order this Mercury 300 outboard from the page, or send the hull model, the transom measurement and details of your helm and we will confirm rigging and controls before anything ships.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is an offshore shaft, 30in.
Why buy a Mercury Verado V8 300
Verado is the line Mercury built for people who notice noise and vibration. On a boat that runs two hours to the fishing grounds and two hours back, that is not a luxury argument, it is a fatigue argument.
The V8 at 300 horsepower makes its power through displacement, which gives it the low end torque to move a loaded hull without working hard. Paired with Mercury digital controls it is a quiet, smooth installation at cruise.
Against the Mercury Pro XS 250, which is the performance line, the Verado trades outright acceleration for refinement and load carrying. Which is right depends entirely on the boat.

A 30 inch Mercury 300 outboard: what it fits
Thirty inches is the offshore shaft, and it suits tall transom hulls and boats running a setback bracket that lifts the engine clear.
It is also the least stocked length in the market, so if your boat takes 30 inches this is worth ordering when you see it rather than waiting for a local dealer to hold one.
Measure first: top of the transom straight down to the hull bottom at the centerline. If you measure 25 inches, this is the wrong engine and we will point you at the right one.
New Mercury Verado: warranty and rigging
A new engine is registered in your name on dispatch and carries Mercury factory cover from that date. We will confirm the current terms and what extension is available before you order.
Rigging is the part worth planning. Verado V8 installations expect Mercury digital throttle and shift, and the control head, harness and displays need to match. Send us what is at your helm now and we will list exactly what the install needs.
Rigging a Verado V8 to your helm
These engines expect a digital control system, and that is the part of the purchase worth settling before the engine ships.
Digital throttle and shift means the control head, the harnesses and the displays all have to be part of the same system. You cannot adapt a mechanical control box to it, and an older analogue helm will not talk to it.
If the boat already runs a recent Mercury digital setup, this is straightforward and much of what you have carries over. If it runs anything else, the helm side is a real cost and needs to be in the budget from the start.
Send us a photograph of your helm and tell us what is on the transom now, and we will list every component the installation needs before you commit to anything.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Mercury Verado and Pro XS?
Verado is the refined line, quieter and smoother and geared to push loaded hulls at cruise. Pro XS is the performance line, tuned for hole shot and top end on lighter boats. Same manufacturer, different jobs.
Is the Mercury Verado V8 300 a good offshore engine?
It is built for exactly that: long runs, loaded hulls and a quiet helm. The V8 makes its torque through displacement, which is what moves weight without straining.
What boats take a 30 inch Mercury Verado?
Tall transom offshore hulls and boats running a setback bracket. It is the least common shaft length, so measure your transom before assuming it is what you need.
Does a new Mercury Verado come with warranty?
Yes, Mercury factory cover registered in your name on the day of dispatch. Ask us to confirm the current term and what extension is available before you order.
Do I need digital controls for a Verado V8?
In practice yes. These engines expect Mercury digital throttle and shift with a matching control head and displays. Tell us what is at your helm and we will confirm what the installation needs.

Shipping and crating
The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
| Destination zone | Freight on this engine | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |
| Express freight | $250 | 1 to 3 days |
Warranty
New Mercury outboards carry the full 3 years Mercury limited warranty for private recreational use, 1 year for commercial use. We register the warranty in your name on the day of dispatch and the certificate ships inside the crate.
Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Mercury dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.
The serial number on this listing, 2B4-9517679, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.
3 years, extendable to 8 years
Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
