Used 2023 Yamaha 425 XTO Offshore 425HP Outboard for Sale
Buy a used Yamaha 425 XTO Offshore outboard for sale online, a 2023 engine with just 210 recorded hours. Two hundred and ten hours on a two year old XTO is barely broken in, and this is the newest and least used of the two XTOs currently in stock. At the top of the outboard market, buying used is less about saving money than about availability: XTO repowers are planned around what can be sourced, and a late model low hour engine ready to ship is often worth more to a project than a new one on order. Send us the boat and what is on the transom now and we will work through rigging before anything is confirmed.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is an extra long shaft, 25in.
A late model, low hour Yamaha 425 XTO
Two years old with 210 hours means this engine has done perhaps one light season. On a V8 of this size, that is the beginning.
The practical value at this end of the market is availability rather than price alone. Repowering a large offshore boat is a project with a schedule, and an engine that exists and can ship now is a different proposition from one that has to be built and allocated.
What to ask for is the same as anywhere: compression on every cylinder, the ECU hours, the service record, and photographs of the midsection and the steering components. We will send all of it.

Two used XTOs, two very different prices: why
We have two 425 XTOs in stock and they are not priced alike. The other is the 2019 Yamaha 425 XTO Offshore at roughly twice the hours and four years older, and it lists considerably higher.
That is worth explaining rather than leaving as an oddity. Used engine prices at this level are set by what the seller paid, what came with the engine, and the condition and completeness of the package, not by a formula applied to year and hours. Two engines of the same model can reach the market from completely different situations.
Ask us what each includes before you compare the numbers. On XTOs, the rigging, steering components and display gear that come with an engine account for a large part of the difference.
Planning a Yamaha XTO 425 repower
Steering is the first thing to settle. The XTO uses an integrated electric system rather than conventional hydraulics, which changes what is at the helm and what runs through the boat.
Charging is the second. These engines generate serious electrical output, which is part of why they suit boats full of systems, and it affects how the batteries and distribution are set up.
Rotation and control architecture are third, and only matter if you are adding to an existing set. Send us what is on the transom and we will check compatibility before you order.
What comes with this Yamaha XTO and what does not
At this level the engine and the package around it are different things, and the difference runs into serious money.
Steering is the clearest example. XTO uses an integrated electric system, so the helm components, the harnesses and the control head are specific to it. An engine sold with all of that is a very different purchase from a bare motor, even at the same headline price.
Displays are the second. Modern Yamaha instrumentation is not cheap, and whether it comes with the engine changes what the install costs you.
Ask us what is on the pallet with this one before you compare it against anything else. We will list it rather than leave you to assume, and if the answer changes the value either way we will say so.
Frequently asked questions
Is 210 hours low for a Yamaha XTO?
Yes. That is roughly one light season on an engine that will run for thousands of hours. It is the least used XTO currently in stock here.
Why is this Yamaha XTO cheaper than the older one?
Used prices at this level are set by what the seller paid and what comes with the engine, not by a year and hours formula. Rigging, steering components and display gear account for much of the difference. Ask us what each package includes.
Does the Yamaha XTO use electric steering?
Yes, an integrated electric steering system rather than conventional hydraulics. That changes the helm and the plumbing through the boat, which is why an XTO repower needs planning rather than a straight swap.
Can I run a single Yamaha 425 XTO?
Some hulls are rigged for it, but the XTO was designed principally for multi engine installations on large offshore boats. Send the hull details and we will tell you whether a single makes sense on yours.
How quickly can a Yamaha XTO ship?
It is a crated freight shipment quoted by weight and destination. Send your zip code and the delivery address and we will confirm what the freight looks like before you order.

Shipping and crating
The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
| Destination zone | Freight on this engine | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |
| Express freight | $250 | 1 to 3 days |
Warranty
This used Yamaha is compression tested, run on the dyno and listed with its hour count and service history. It carries a ninety day parts and labor warranty from us unless the balance of factory cover runs longer.
Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Yamaha dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.
The serial number on this listing, 6EK-6855585, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.
3 years, extendable to 5 years
Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
