New Mercury 60HP Outboard for Sale
Buy a new Mercury 60HP four stroke outboard online, a 2026 engine on a 20 inch long shaft with electric start, remote steering and power trim and tilt. A new 60 is the engine to buy when the boat is a keeper: full factory warranty registered in your name, no history to check, no corrosion to inspect, and Mercury dealer coverage everywhere in the country for the next decade of servicing. Sixty horsepower suits 16 to 18 foot aluminum hulls and pontoons, which is the largest fleet on the water in the United States. Order this new Mercury 60 outboard from the page, or send the hull model and your transom measurement and we will confirm the fit before you pay.
Supplied with
- Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
- Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
- Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
- Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
- First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil
Not sure on shaft length
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is a long shaft, 20in.
Buy a new Mercury 60HP outboard
At this size, the value of buying new is mostly the warranty, and it is worth more than people expect.
A 60 horsepower outboard costs less than the labor on a serious repair. Factory cover for the first years removes the one risk that would actually hurt, and it transfers into how the boat sells later.
The rest of it is certainty. No previous owner, no salt history to reconstruct from photographs, no question about whether the impeller was ever changed.

What boats take a 60HP outboard
Aluminum fishing boats from 16 to 18 feet, pontoons up to about 20 feet, and small runabouts. On a pontoon in particular, 60 is often the difference between moving and moving usefully with people aboard.
Check the capacity plate on your transom and aim within ten percent of the maximum rating. Send us the hull model and the measurement and we will confirm the fit.
New Mercury 60 or a used one
We hold used Mercury 60s alongside this one, so the comparison is straightforward to make rather than theoretical.
The 2024 Mercury 60HP is a year old and considerably cheaper. Buying new makes sense if you are keeping the boat for years and want the cover. Buying used makes sense if you are not.
What a new Mercury 60HP needs on top of the engine
Buying new removes the history questions but not the rigging ones, and those are worth pricing before you order.
If the boat already runs a Mercury of similar age, the controls, cables and gauges may carry straight over and the install is simple.
If it runs another brand, or anything much older, expect to change the control box, the cables and the harness. Those parts are not optional and they are not trivial in cost.
A propeller has to be pitched to your hull rather than assumed, and gauges have to be able to read what a current engine reports.
Send us a photograph of the helm and tell us what is on the transom now. We will list exactly what the installation needs, in writing, before anything ships.
One more thing worth deciding at the same time: whether you want the engine delivered to your address or straight to whoever is fitting it. Sending it to the installer saves handling a crated engine twice and usually saves a day of the job.
Tell us which when you order and we will route it accordingly rather than default to your billing address.
Frequently asked questions
What warranty comes with a new Mercury 60HP?
Mercury factory cover, registered in your name on the day of dispatch. Ask us to confirm the current term and what extension is available before you order.
Is a new 60HP outboard worth it over a used one?
If you are keeping the boat for years, yes, because the warranty covers the one risk that would genuinely hurt. If you plan to sell within a few seasons, a used engine avoids depreciation you will not recover.
What size boat is a 60HP outboard for?
A 16 to 18 foot aluminum fishing boat, a pontoon up to about 20 feet, or a small runabout. Check the maximum rating on your capacity plate.
Do I need to buy controls separately?
Remote engines need a control box, cables and a harness specified against your boat. Tell us what is on the helm now and we will list what the installation needs.
How is a new Mercury 60HP delivered?
Crated on curbside liftgate freight, quoted by weight and destination, with the warranty registered in your name on dispatch.

Shipping and crating
The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.
Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.
Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.
| Destination zone | Freight on this engine | Transit |
|---|---|---|
| Standard freight | $100 | About a week |
| Express freight | $250 | 1 to 3 days |
Warranty
New Mercury outboards carry the full 3 years Mercury limited warranty for private recreational use, 1 year for commercial use. We register the warranty in your name on the day of dispatch and the certificate ships inside the crate.
Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Mercury dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.
The serial number on this listing, 2B4-9600739, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.
3 years, extendable to 8 years
Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
