Used 2027 Mercury 60HP Outboard for Sale

Buy a used Mercury 60HP outboard for sale online, a four stroke on a 20 inch long shaft with electric start, remote steering and power trim and tilt. Sixty horsepower with remote steering is the standard repower for 16 to 18 foot aluminum boats and pontoons, and a used one is the sensible way to buy it: the engines are simple, the parts are everywhere, and Mercury has the widest service network in the country behind them. This listing arrived from the supplier with a 2027 model year against it, which we have flagged rather than repeated as fact, and the year is confirmed from the engine serial before anything ships. Send us the hull model and transom measurement and we will confirm the fit.

Supplied with

  • Engine, cowling and mounting hardware, factory assembled
  • Owner manual, warranty booklet and registration certificate
  • Propeller not included on engines from 40hp up, pitched to order on request
  • Remote control box, cables and rigging tube available as an add on
  • First service kit available at checkout, oil filter and gear oil

Not sure on shaft length

Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. This engine is a long shaft, 20in.

The model year on this used Mercury 60HP

The supplier export put a 2027 model year on this engine. Outboard manufacturers do run model years ahead of the calendar, so a future year on a new engine is normal, but on a used one it is worth questioning rather than repeating.

So we are not stating a year as fact on this page. We read it from the serial number before the engine ships and confirm it to you in writing.

If the year matters to your purchase, which at this size it usually does not, ask first and we will check before you pay rather than after.

What a 60HP outboard is for

Aluminum fishing boats from 16 to 18 feet, pontoons to around 20 feet, and small runabouts. It is the size people move to when a 50 is working too hard with the boat loaded.

Twenty inches of shaft fits a standard transom. Measure from the top of the transom straight down to the hull bottom at the centerline before you order, and if you measure 15 inches you need a short shaft engine instead.

Buying a used Mercury 60 online

There are three Mercury 60s in stock at different prices and conditions, which is unusual and useful: it means you can pick the trade you want rather than take what is there.

The 2024 Mercury 60HP is the other used one, and the 2026 Mercury 60HP is new. Tell us the boat and the budget and we will say which of the three makes sense.

Three Mercury 60s, one decision

We hold three 60 horsepower Mercurys at three prices and two conditions, which is unusual, and it means the choice is yours rather than whatever happened to come in.

The new 2026 Mercury 60HP gives you factory cover and no history to investigate, at the highest price of the three.

The 2024 Mercury 60HP is a year old and cheaper, with most of its life ahead of it.

This one is the middle option and carries the model year question set out above.

Tell us the boat, the budget and how long you plan to keep it, and we will tell you which of the three we would buy in your position. If that is not the one you were looking at, we will say so.

Frequently asked questions

Why does this Mercury 60HP show a 2027 model year?

It came that way in the supplier export. Manufacturers do run model years ahead of the calendar, but on a used engine we would rather confirm it from the serial number than repeat it, so no year is claimed on this page.

What size boat needs a 60HP outboard?

Usually a 16 to 18 foot aluminum fishing boat, a pontoon to about 20 feet, or a small runabout. The capacity plate on your transom settles it.

Which of the three Mercury 60s should I buy?

Depends on whether you want warranty or a lower price. One is new, two are used at different prices. Tell us the boat and how long you plan to keep it and we will give you a straight answer.

Will this 20 inch Mercury 60HP fit my boat?

Only if the transom measures about 20 inches from the top down to the hull bottom at the centerline. Fifteen inches needs a short shaft. Send the measurement and hull model and we will confirm.

How many hours are on this Mercury 60HP?

Read from the ECU before dispatch. Ask and we will send you the figure along with compression on every cylinder.

Shipping and crating

The engine is bolted upright to a purpose built pallet, braced at the cowling and skinned before it leaves the warehouse. Crates are photographed on the dock and the photographs are attached to your order record.

Freight is curbside by default. The carrier calls ahead to arrange a delivery window, and you will need a second pair of hands or a tractor to take the crate off the truck. Liftgate service and delivery direct to an authorized dealer can both be added at checkout.

Standard transit is five to ten working days depending on zone, express is one to three. Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico are quoted separately.

Standard freight $100 About a week

Warranty

This used Mercury is compression tested, run on the dyno and listed with its hour count and service history. It carries a ninety day parts and labor warranty from us unless the balance of factory cover runs longer.

Warranty work can be carried out at any authorized Mercury dealer in the United States. You are not tied to us for servicing, and buying online does not shorten or void the factory cover.

The serial number on this listing, 2B4-6321888, is the unit that ships to you. It appears on your invoice and on the warranty registration.

3 years, extendable to 8 years

Extended service cover can be added within the first year. Ask the sales desk to add it to your invoice.
