Buying a 100hp outboard
At this size you normally find long or extra long shaft, electric start, remote, power trim and tilt, with external tank.
We have 12 matching engines below: 8 in stock and ready to crate, and 4 we source to order in seven to fourteen days.
Buying used at this size, at three figures the propeller matters as much as the engine, so budget for pitching it to your hull.
Listed prices on this page run from $2,300 to $11,495. Freight, controls and a propeller are quoted separately.
Common questions
What size boat does a 100hp outboard suit?
It suits bay boats and mid size center consoles. Always check the capacity plate at your transom first, since that gives the maximum the hull is rated for and it is illegal as well as unwise to exceed it.
How much does a 100hp outboard weigh?
Typically 160 to 170 kg, 353 to 375 lb. That figure matters more than most buyers expect: it decides whether you can lift the engine alone, and whether your transom bracket is rated for it.
Which shaft length do I need?
Measure vertically from the top of the transom to the lowest point of the hull. Fifteen inches takes a short shaft, twenty inches a long shaft, twenty five inches an extra long. Fitted right, the anti ventilation plate finishes level with the hull bottom. Send us a photograph with a tape measure in frame if you are unsure.
Does the price include controls and a propeller?
Remote steering engines are supplied without a control box or cables unless you add them, and engines from 40hp up ship without a propeller so it can be pitched to your hull. Both can go in the same crate, so there is no second freight charge.
How does it get to me?
Crated and shipped to all 48 states. Freight is priced from your zip code against the destination zone, and the exact figure is shown at checkout before you pay. Ask for a written quote first if you would rather see it in an email.
